30k....for a Jeep? Really?

For this much money I'd want Patton himself to have driven it, and something more impressive than a painted wooden box where the Browning should be......

I would want that for mine if it was for sale( and have been offered that amount by a collector in the U.S)But then again it was a nut and bolt restoration over 20 years ago using genuine parts and by a world renowned Jeep restorer.

Prices for these are going up. And expect to pay around £15k for a tatty one. But beware you have to know what you are looking at when buying one.

We talked about the GP he was working on - huge shed full of all sorts - and he had this mania to restore one particular JEEP into total original Ford guise.

To find all the nuts and bolts marked Ford was a bit of a hunt.

Crazy . . . I can imagine such cars to be 30ish.

In order for that to be 1941 it would need to have a slat grille. Plus it has a side filler. Which didn't come about till 1946. That jeep just don't add up.

i have every Ford stamped part on mine. You couldn't do that kind of restoration now.

So you think that every Jeep ever made in the 1940's that are still in existence, are all going to remain exactly how they left the factory some 70+ years later? - Get real!

It may well have had a later body slapped on it during those 70 years, but the chassis and mechanicals could still be the originals, so despite the body, it would still be classified as a '41.

No. Not for one minute do I thinks it's a 41. There are to many other clues to its age. So know your subject before you make a smart arse comment!!

For 30k I'd also expect a decent replica or deac Browning on top, not that abomination. In the military vehicle hobby I've never been able to understand why Jeeps command so much money when our APC cost half what one of these would go for. I suppose it's all an issue of space and maintenance, but then why not get a military Landy or something? At shows you see nothing but lines and lines of them, each one painted as if it went up Omaha Beach, naturally

You answered your own question. It's all down to space and maintaince. Coupled with the fact the Jeep was one of the most iconic vehicles of WW11.

Far more metal for the money! just finishing getting ours back together after some new exhaust tubes and elbows, new radiator and a front hub rebuild. 2013 show season here we come
