By that do you mean anyone daring to voice an opinion contrary to that of those on the CCYH forum who seem to think that all 'classics' should be preserved/restored only as completely original specced cars?
As Crafty pointed out, it's the owner's prerogative to modify their car as they see fit.

I never said that the owner shouldn't have done it because I knew that some tit would appear and post a comment like that. The point is that someone has made a complete hash of a nice car (regardless of its previous condition) and I was expressing my disgust and what is quite frankly awful. I don't think they've made a hash of it, looks pretty good to me.
Whoever owns the thing is perfectly entitled to do what they see fit with the vehicle, looks pretty good to me.

If it didn't need much doing I would think it was a bit mad to do what they have done. The thing is that if they own it is theirs to do as they please and the chances are there probably wasn't two bits of it hanging the right way. The Yanks have been doing this to old motors for decades and some of them look stunning. Each to his own I guess.
The passenger legroom looks severely compromised doesn't it? It's not my cup of tea and I'm doubtful it's based on a real 540K; do you remember the one pulled from a garage in Walsall or was it Newcastle? (not the Bugatti)

TBH I rather like that! Don't expect many original 540 bits have been 'lost to posterity' in creating it and it could be just a parts donor that has been recycled into something useful.
Can't comment on what it might be worth - Out of my league anyway!
Can't help thinking that it is more 'honest' than lots of so called original cars which are cloned from a chassis plate and little else.
