Interior Carpet Glue - Any advice?

Hello all,

I have recently had to remove some of the interior carpeting from my 1985 SL500 Merc, it is originally glued in place. Does anyone know of a good glue/bonding agent that is suitable for sticking carpet to metal without leaving a strong glue smell in the car?

Any advice is very welcome

unibond carpet spry adhesive is good stuff and about £5-7 a can

also Impact stuff is strong and drives within 10minutes but gives you time to manoeuvre

Talk to the usual car trim suppliers (Woolies are one - no affiliation) - Impact adhesives are the way to go but it's best to get one that is specifically designed for the job and can cope with higher temperatures than normal. The standard stuff can lose it's stick after a while.

Best product I have ever used for this job is Dunlop 1358 adhesive. Worth shopping around for.
