I think the models they made around this era, and I would say this is about an '85 model were the
2300, 2600s, 2600se, 3500se, 3500 vanden plas, 3500 vitesse. I may be wrong, was never a Rover expert.

Its not a 2300, a 2600s or a 3500 Vitesse.

So i'd narrow it down to the 2600/3500se or a vanden plas.
A google search may help. Chrome mirrors and velour upholstery?

Update. Vanden plas had over-riders/headlamp wash.
Rule that out

It is either a 2300S, or a 2600S. I also think it is a 2600S - they were more popular than the 2300S. There is a very outside chance it could be a 2400SD turbo - but they're rare.

My reasoning is that it has a front spoiler - not available on the 2000 or 2300 and standard on the 2300S/2600S, but no front foglights - which were standard on the 2600SE and 3500SE. It also lacks the front overriders and powerwash, so isn't a 2600 Vanden Plas, or 3500 Vanden Plas.

It's not a 2000 / 2300 as it has the chrome bumper finish and sunroof (although that was an option, but chrome wasn't.

S spec added the chrome bumper and sunroof.

SE added fog lights, different trim.

As I can't amke out the trim type, and assuming foglights not removed, it's a 2300S or 2600S. As there weren't many 2300S, I'll opt for 2600S.

I agree with tonys. Its either a 2300s or 2600s & most likely to be the 2600s due to the greater number produced.

Cheers for the replies guys. PH delivers once again!

Old guy is someone known as Dr Death and is massively well known in railway circles. More so in the south/west.

Cheers

2000 and 2300 gained stainless bumper trims and plastic under riders in about 1982. Sunroofs became standard some time before 1985, as did electric windows, mirrors, and central locking.

But even the last models did not have front spoilers (or front fog lights as standard), so it must be a 2300S.
