It's great to share the planet with nuts who can up and decide one day to collect 200 oddities like this - there's hope for us all yet. But an anticipated average of £35k per car? He certainly has some interesting toys, but in the current climate....good luck to him.

Apparently he's got a lot of extremely rare stuff, some of those Goggomobil commercial are incredibly rare and sought after.

But for the £60k that van is supposed to bring? Screw that ill have an E-Type S1 4.2 OTS please or a 37 Zephyr coupe.

Both for less money I might add.

So we are back on the subject of crazy prices for crap cars.

It will be interesting to see how much these go for. It must be rare for so many cars of this type to come on the market at one time.

Rare yes, sought after.....mmm, not so sure. IMHO these are interesting oddities which belong in museums. I can't see them having mass appeal, and the last time I checked the basics of business demand made up 50% of any pricing equation. I think you have succinctly summed up most peoples attitude on this forum...it's not just about investment, it has to float your boat too.

Isn't it an RM auction? I'm sure if they've set the estimates then that's pretty much what they'll make. The Coke/Krispy Kreme vans will have huge appeal beyond the motoring world too.

A lot of it is dross and porridge. Bonds aren't uber desirable. None of them are a pretty thing..

As I have said before one must look at at the unusable stuff as art. A Peel Trident did not sell when new as it was pretty much unfit for purpose.

No one in their right mind would drive one. Today you simply own one to look at and derive pleasure from the fact that the likes of it will never be made again. Please do not quote the new reps on Dragons Den etc as being made again. The 60's cars were sold as cheap transport.

Each to their own and all that.

Micros are eccentric machines for eccentric collectors...

Next weekend will be VERY interesting as 99% of the really rare stuff is simply never for sale.

We know the price of DB's, 250's and E Types. It could go either way.

So a lot of eyes will be watching...
