Does anybody know a firm who may offer a 1 month policy?

I'm currently selling one of the classics and I've been asked to display it at Race Retro next weekend. I need to get it insured but on my last policy (Heritage/Norton) it was a cash up front for the year and no refunds policy.

I really don't want to pony up a 12 month fee if I can avoid it.

Any ideas?

Good call, I cannot offer advice but I'm in the same boat. Having 3 classics is getting silly when most of the time they're not being driven and cannot be classed as laid up either.

Anyone have any suggestions I too would welcome them smile

This is a friend he works for Aviva, I hope he don't mind me post this. Sort term insurance will always be bloody expensive as the risk is deemed higher( why does the person need temp cover rather than a full term?.). also the temp insurance is set up for modern cars not collectors cars and in the event of a claim would only pay out market value, which could be a big difference between you and the insurer, have you tried Adrian Flux? i've always found them to be helpful when changing cars, i've been with them for years and for my classics and American motors never had a problem they've even insured American stuff on the VIN Number so i could get them back from the docks. on another point you say the car is currently uninsured, if a garage was selling it on your behalf it would be covered under their traders policy and i'm sure the auction house should have some kind of cover in place for cars in their care.

Surely your valuable classic needs to be insured no matter where it is 24/7,in storage,in bits,on the road?? I have a cherished car policy with Towergate, agreed MY valuation,1500 miles per year,Europe,RAC recovery, all the usual classic car stuff. The car spends six months in winter storage and the annual policy costs £125 including road risks. That`s peanuts for an asset that`s cost me blood sweat tears and is worth £17K +.

For anyone reading this that is interested:

I went back to the broker I use for all my classics (Norton/Heritage) and got it sorted.

On any policy that is a) over £100 per year and b) over 3000 miles they offer:

Cancelling within 14 days: 100% refund minus £25 paperwork fee
Cancelling within 3 months: 70% refund minus £25 paperwork fee
Cancelling within 4 months: 60% refund minus £25 paperwork fee

I thought that was quite reasonable. The premium I paid was £165 so if I sell the car within a month as I'm hoping then I will get back the 70% minus £25 which is better than I'd expected.

I have 8 old cars and they are on a single policy with Hagerty. Some are on the road, some laid up, some just race. Also covers BJ race box. Its is a 12month policy but I can change anything at any time as the collection changes

They're at Silverstone
