What did I see?

I was in Bristol on saturday and spotted a car that had me puzzled. I didn't get a look at the back of it, but the front looked quite similar in style to a marcos mantula, except with unfaired headlights, and the badge was smaller, and oval shaped - vertically. ie 0 ish.

It had the distinctive central bulge, in the bonnet, was a convertible, twin headlamps like the marcos, but was very slab sided almost like a cerbera or a chimaera.

Not quite: that "F" reg plate indicates that it's actually a Hawk replica.

That's interesting. Ace manufacturing stopped in 1963, and the "F" reg presumably refers to the donor car. But what donor? The engine size is very odd. Age-related plates can only be applied to something originally built in 1967 in this instance, and I can't work out what it was.

Well it's the size of a Rover V8, so could have come from a P5B.

The Hawk uses an MGB as the base donor, you can then add whatever engine you choose, MGB, Triumph 2.5, Rover V8 etc..

Really fancy one myself.
