My new project is here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

The first challenge I have is sorting out the abomination of an immobiliser!

The 924 has sat for 6 years and allegedly ran fine before a fuel leak took it off the road.

Having bought a nice new battery for it yesterday, I connected it up and indeed signs of life were present ... specifically in the flashing hazards and the red LED in the cabin. However, try as I might i can't disarm it. I have put a new battery in the remote which seems to be working (that too has an LED in it)

What puzzles me is that I dont just have a remote though. Hanging beneath the dash, literally on a piece of string, is what appears to be a Toad transponder... but what has that got to do with the (seemingly non-Toad) remote?

A couple of pictures in the hope that someone may recognise it?

Oh, and there doent seem to be a siren / horn attached cos it doesnt make any noise!

THanks in advance!

Chris

Chris,

The module in the second pic is for a Toad immobiliser. There should be a coil of wire around the ignition key slot so that when you put the ignition key in to start the car, the coil picks up that the fob is there and disarms the immobiliser. Try taking the steering column shroud off to see if there is a coil of wire either round the ignition key barrel or somewhere in the column shroud. Then try holding the fob against the coil and see if that gets you anywhere.

Thanks Jeremy,

I'll give it a go and report back. Any thoughts on the remote?

Sorry no. I know the immobiliser fob as I have one on my Excel.

Hi Chris,

I'm pretty sure that the remote is from a "Serpi Star" system. An internet search should give you more info.

Thanks, I'll have a dig around. Not had chance to do anything more this week but will report back
