Mrs D has spotted one of these for sale and quite fancies it. It will not be a daily driver as we have a few other cars we use.
It is a 66 1.8 Auto. I know very little about them except they have a good reputation for strength. What do I need to be aware of and are spares easy to get hold of please.
Thanks in advance.

Great cars, and in the main tough as old boots.
On the body, check the front inner wings, they can rot out where the outer wings bolt on (it's a box section under there). Four door cars have galvanised sills the full length, two door cars are only galvanised for the front 2/3rds or so, the rear 1/3 is part of the back wing and not so treated afaik. Boot floors and spare wheel wells can rot on poor cars, plus the usual checks on the outriggers. Also have a look below the screen corners as leaking screen seals can cause problems.
Parts supply is excellent, and they drive really well (I've only ever driven manuals though).

Wish I’d spotted this thread earlier, but I’ve been working on my Amazon all weekend so PH has taken a back seat...
As others have said, cracking cars! Parts supply is good for most bits and the owner’s club forum provides good technical support. Mine is my only car, lives outside all year round, is 43 years old and has never been welded underneath... can’t say that about too many cars!
OP; if your missus has got her heart set on one, keep an eye on the ‘cars for sale’ section of the VOC as a lot of people will advertise here first rather than deal with the horrors of ebay etc.
That said, there is a nice looking one on ebay for 5 grand – it’s been for sale for a while so you might get lucky with a cheeky offer?
