Has anybody got any recommendations for car shippers?
I'm possibly buying something in the EU and have used the Shiply website. So far I've got a couple of quotes (wildly different of course) but wondered if anyone knows of anybody I can go to directly for a quote?
The consignment will be 1 x small car (full of misc small car spares)

The thought had occured to me but no, I don't have a car with a tow hook and I've never towed anything before in my entire life!
Also my only car at the moment is a rally prepared 32 year old Porsche. Not the ideal tow vehicle.
I may see if anyone I know fancies a trip. That said the car is in Scandinavia. The cheapest Shiply quote I've had is for £800. I suspect 2 of us would burn way more than that in just getting there and back. Ferry there and back with a car+trailer would be in excess of £500, + fuel, fags, hookers and grog.

Tiz what I do, mainly not Scandinavia specific, but was in Sweden for a PH'er a while back, got him a Tuscan race car back & have done several Denmark runs.

Edited to add- ah just seen your listing for the Lancia, couldnt get close to those prices, but do check the shiply cowboys carefully, one of those quotes, the cheapest one so far, is for driven delivery, not transported.

I've got a Lancia specialist looking at it tomorrow so that will decide whether it is a goer or not.
As for that cheaper quote - ha - I didn't see that. The hospital bill for his ears would cost more than that, it is completely stripped out with a single racing bucket, non opening perspex windows, no heater, quad trumpets, striaght through exhaust and the noisiest box and diff in living memory

I have used shiply to pick up a few cars in the past, all in the uk and was very happy with service and cost. The last collection /delivery was a disaster. The driver (finally) turned up 2 hours late, typically at a job i was present so i was kicking my heals. Even the garage shut up shop, so i had to wait outside with a part dismantled car. Its a bit of a worry when your car disappears with a guy you have never met before! Before that i raved about the service, now not so confident in the service. Shame
i too used shiply, it's a bit of a scam for both parties, they take a fee off you and the transporter, due to the low margins to the transporter they deliver late (sometimes very!) and if you have seen the state they arrive, i now collect vehicles myself.
Far better to hire a trailer and make a mini break whilst collecting, usually works out cheaper and you take better care of your new accuision.

Thanks guys. I'm still waiting for my chap to evaluate the car so at the moment it is slightly academic.
Interesting point on shipping with stuff in the car. I was planning to have them pack up the spares package inside - it would be 4 x wheels, spotlights, misc other bits.
If the car is a buyer I'll have to look more closely.
