Ex works Frogeye - information wanted please!

My old man has owned a Frogeye for 35 odd years which he was told has had some works involvement during its early years. Its got Speedwell door handles, steering wheel and hard top, front discs, wire wheels, Riley 1.5 rear axle and a very early B series engine and box fitted. Not particularly special on their own but its also got a parcel shelf cut in behind the seats, a bootlid - all very neatly done - and a second floor, consisting of box sections welded in at strategic places with a thin skin on top.
Now when my old man bought it it was very rough so had obviously been off the road for quite a few years, meaning the mods must have been done in its early days. It started life yellow, registered ***JHA and thats all we know! We're waiting for the list of previous keepers from the DVLA and the AH club can't tell us anything about the car. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look next?

Who have you spoken to at the AH club? If it's a factory special Paul Woolmer would be the person to ask - he has the prototype 'MARS' Sprite with the B series, I think that's a bit longer than a standard car and IIRC there was only one.

If was modified by a private owner it's quite possible that no-one knows anything about it, there were nearly 50,000 cars and lots were modified.

The Sprite sounds interesting although the Riley 1.5 rear axle and rear drums were a period upgrade. The MGB engine is interesting though possibly not the best unit to upgrade to. I'd be interested to know what make of front disks it has/had.

Registration numbers ending in JHA were issued in Smethwick County Borough Council (currently Birmingham (Dudley), so that would put it close-ish to Warwick.
