Does anybody know whether I could fit a Jaguar MkX 3.8 Triple Carb set up on to a 4.2 Litre Jaguar XJ6 Series 2 .

The 4.2 has extra water ways that aren't there on the 3.8 manifold.
I believe you can close up these waterways on the head, but you'd be much better off finding a 4.2 triple carb manifold. I don't remember them being too expensive when I bought mine. The E-Type one is different, it has a slight S bend to drop the carb height but the MkX one has the centre line of carb throttles on the same level as the ports. Not sure if that is important on an XJ, but on my XK150 the E-Type manifold means the rear most carb fouls the steering column on RH drive cars.
