E-type: looking for geared starter motor

Hi,

I had a geared starter motor fitted to my S14.2 while the engine was out for a gearbox rebuild. Part of the rationale was ease of replacement if I had problems in the future, due to the smaller size of the more modern design.

Unfortunately, the starter has seized after only limited use, I guess I may contravene the rules if I describe the make and model!

My question is: could anyone recommend a replacement based on their own experience?

I bought one from Hutson about 3 years ago - no prob and don't know the make. Speak to Andy there.

I've got an Edge on the XJ6 4.2 in my Austin. Draws very little current and cranks over lovely - will start the car with the battery in a condition where it would hardly turn over with the standard kit. Only had the car on the road for a year tho' so can't comment on lifespan...
