Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1300 Sprint

Hi everyone,

I'm collecting the latest car to join my eclectic little collection (E92 M3, Porsche 981S, MK Indy R, 1930 Ford Model A Phaeton, NSU Quickly, Zandupp Moped) from Black and White cars tomorrow.

The car is a 1964 Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1300 Sprint. This is a later model than the Guilietta Sprint and it differs slightly including having disc brakes at the front. Im told just 1900 of these were made.

It has been fully restored to a very high standard. I looked at a variety of cars from Alfa GT Juniors to BMW 3.0CSLs but this just blew me away both in terms of looks (its just too damned pretty) and condition.

Thanks. Yes, I've read a great deal of positive comments about them. James is a really nice bloke.

I'm very excited, I keep saying "lets take the alfa romeo" in my head in a Yorkshire/Italian accent. Sad, sad car nerd.

Been a long day, not helped by a car transporter mounting the central reservation on the m40 and tipping over (hope everyone was ok), so just some iphone pics for now im afraid...

Thanks Leg - I think a sly visit might prove fatal! They do seem to have a good reputation though...

Sounds like you have the same affliction as me, caraholism. I reckon I'll be back surfing car and classic by Saturday night plotting to somehow prise some more tin into no space whatsoever and out of an empty bank account. A suitably large dollop of man maths and deft application of advanced bloke physics usually wins the day.

I'm told you can build wooden structures up to a couple of meters without planning permission. Wife permission may not be forthcoming though. I feel an 80s hot hatch coming on.

Afraid so yes - guilty as charged! Nipped over to Gaydon today to rub shoulders with some fellow Rover P5 / P6 types and promptly fell for a '90s Maserati in the car park, I didn't see that one coming at all... not my usual cup of tea but in the flesh a gorgeous piece of kit. Move forward a couple of hours and a stunning silver DB5 and gunmetal E-Type turned up together, both making my poor eyes implode at their sheer beauty. Looking at piccies and watching grainy clips on youtube is all well and good, but seeing these works of art in the flesh always makes the senses tingle. When I've finished typing this I'll be looking at Alfa 1750GTs and Lotus Europas for sale online... it's a desease with no known cure!

That is beautiful. It is heartbreaking that modern safety legislation means such beautiful cars can never be built again. I'd happily take the risk in my own fatality to have them make these again.
