Upgrading old AM radio's

Does anyone know of a good place to have them converted to FM and is it possible to run any type of mp3 player through one?

Not quite the same, but I just hide a modern mini-amplifier somewhere and run a .mp3 player to that. Doesn't help with FM radio though...
