Le Mans Classic Lunch 2014
Discussion
With respect moderators, perhaps we could create this as a sticky? I'd like to try and get a bunch of us together on the Friday at one of my favourite restaurants not far from the Mulsanne straight. Yes, I know we have the Pistonheads meet, but I want to try something a bit more refined and upmarket. I recommended this restaurant to a few this year for the 24 hours and the response has been A1, and since I've known it for years I would stake my - albeit rather dubious - reputation on the quality of the food. Some of you will be happy with burgers at the circuit, some with a BBQ on the camp site, some with a sandwich from a supermarket and of course some with just a liquid lunch but if you really want to participate in what can only be described as a gourmet lunch for 20€ (plus drinks of course) then please contact me. I would say that I want you to think about this, not just give a kneejerk yes and not turn up, since they have become friends and I don't want 40 names and 20 arrivals. Unfair to say the least. But if you want to have a quality lunch, with like-minded petrolheads, then please signify. This may or may not work, but when I started the Pistonheads Friday Le Mans meeting it took off and now is a fixture. Perhaps this could become the same. Don't worry about numbers, since they have space for at least 100 of us by the way, having rooms behind for marriages and baptisms. If it does grow, we'll have to think about logistics and menus, but hey-ho, lets take it from ground zero and go from there.

Right, let's get the ball rolling...
Hello Tony, I'm in for this. Not sure if I'll be traversing from West Berkshire or the Alpes, but the V8 will be in the 'B and this will stretch her legs nicely. You very kindly extended the invitation to me last year when I was unable to meet up; so 2014 it is. Hope all's well for you. Feel free to pm if you need a hand organising, mustering the troops et al.

Benjj, what about the Yorkshire Battalion...are they at the ready?

Hello chaps.
Very odd Andrew, I saw this thread earlier and was just coming back to reply now the childred are down.
Yes, I'm very keen indeed, thanks Tony.
We're still a way off yet but I can give a set in silver yes now, upraded to a set in gold yes pre-Christmas.
Looking forward to it.

Thanks chaps. I posted - badly - in the Le Mans section and here was the reply I made:-
Apologies for my lack of foresight. Somehow in copying across I cut a part of the post. This is the Auberges des Blés d'Or at Ruaudin and will be on the Friday at 1300 hours. If you want to look at the place it can be found here:-
Latitude 47 deg.56"37.57 mins
Longitude 0 deg.15"48.58 mins.
So, about five minutes from the Porsche Curves and less from Tertre Rouge for example.
I look forward to hearing from any of you, and you can in the first instance email me via Pistonheads. I assure you, you will not be disappointed in the quality of the food, and in doing this I hope I'll not - and I am sure I will not - be disappointed in the quality of the attendees. It might be a bit of work, but then good company, good food, and good conversation are never to be spurned.
This of course is early days and just testing the water, but I am gratified that some of you have already taken the trouble to reply. I am off to the south of France for a week and will reply to any other posts on my return.
ETA: Parking. Plenty of it behind the restaurant and a big public one opposite.
