Hi, I am looking to get a classic that is some way from me inspected, does anyone have any recommendations? One option is to find a good independent garage that's near and ask them, or use a car inspection company. Any opinions would be great.

If it's a classic you're best off asking the relevant owners Club. Many have 'officials' who operate in this capacity, or will be able to point you in the direction of someone locally who can help, and who has the relevant specialist knowledge. Especially important for cars with weird quirks or complexities.

I used this company several years ago and their report cost less than a quarter of the amount I got off the asking price. http://www.classicassessments.com/index.htm

I have also successfully used Classic Assessments, and found Brian Page there very helpful. The report dissuaded me from buying one car, and helped negotiate the price of the one I did buy. I believe he will travel anywhere in the country, and will charge mileage accordingly. It was money well spent.
