Bendix Servo seals

Just a long shot - I'm looking for the seal that the master cylinder actuating rod passes through on its way into the servo.

It's a Bendix servo with a 4 bolt fixing on the master cylinder and fitted to a 1988 Talbot Express 2.5 TD (Peugeot J5, Citreon C25 etc)

Any help would be appreciated

If you can extract the seal take it to your nearest hydraulics repair co, you will be amazed at what they stock.

I was thinking that but as the seal is holding at the moment I'm loathe to take it out and chance destroying it.

If it ain't broke why fix it , in 40 years of messing with cars as a pro and hobby I have only ever known one servo seal to fail, that leaked fluid into the vacume pipe to the inlet and the resultant smoke was a good clue that something was amiss.

The only reason I noticed it was the need to change the master cylinder. When I took the old one off notice the seal look distinctly tired.

Don't think its an hydraulic seal actually - from where it's placed I would think it's more a vacuum seal. Its the seal that the m/c pushrod passes through as it enters the servo - the only way hydraulic fluid could get close to it is if the m/c seals had gone.

Someone suggested that Peugeot may still list it so I called into the local dealer this afternoon and spent half an hour with a really helpful chap (Days in Swansea) and found the diagrams eventually on the computer but all servo parts (including the servo unit) are listed as unavailable.

He did print out the relevant diagram and part numbers for me though and as I'm off to France in a couple of weeks I may try the dealers over there. There's literally 1000's still in regular use there so may be more chance.
