Hi Nigel,
I am driving round the issue by simply not tempting fate on really hot days , I have a few parts coming to try out( new rad cap, summer thermostat) so will try those out . I am also switching to electronic ignition so I can get rid of the condenser and points, the theory being that the timing should also then be more reliable !
That thread was only ever to discuss the possibility of switching to a different radiator, but no one appeared to want to entertain that idea, even then as you say it went way off track with all the personal stuff .
Thanks for your suggestions though , I will update the thread once I have added the new parts, am just trying to juggle rebuilding the garage as well, so it's tricky at the moment

they'll help with the starting, running and idle but bear in mind the rest of the dissy can be worn so that would still effect the running but not necessarily that badly, I'd put a drop of engine oil as per instructions in Driver's Handbook into the dissy after removing points and before fitting electronic and make sure the top plate is completely dry you don't want oil splashing around therebe very careful when fitting the electronic not to trap or squash the delicate wires and allow for movement and scuffing of those wires inside and out of the dissy - it seems to me a lot of reported problems from electronic igniter heads is because of careless installation
remember this order for setting up, check adjust as required - tappets,
if you adjust anything in that chain then you'll need to check or adjust the items that follow in that chain

like me they thought it shouldn't be necessary and to investigate the cause wibble cb said:

Guy and I are on different wavelengths for humour but get along fine wibble cb said:
