Last weekend saw our biggest gathering of the year, about 800 cars over two days. I didn't take many pictures, but here are a few:-
Anyone know this make? New to me

Once again, a make I had never seen before:-

Now who can tell me what the model is?

This was lovely

This though was my hero. Driven all the way from the east of Germany to the meeting

Yes, Saturday and Sunday, usually third in the month of August, with anoptional little rally on the Sunday morning. They select cars for a parade on the Sunday afternoon where each owner is interviewed as they pass by the ACO caravan. 800+ cars this year, mostly French of course, but as you can see some rather nice ones here and there. Plenty of stands selling spares and clothing too.

Plenty of Brits, one notably with silk scarf, Norton featherbed frame, clip-ons, 850 Commando motor and lovely Dunstall-style exhausts. An Amphicar driving round the lake with an army DUKW, model section with a fabulous array of remote controlled carts and some very swift model boats on the lake too. The Bugatti 1922 came from GB as did several E-types, I took the XKSS one day and the E-type the next, and if it falls right there might even be a bed or two here for people....
Oh, and since it is on the way and but five miles from the Hotel de France at La Chartre sur le Loir, a good snack lunch on the Saturday to be had at around a tenner including a beer. A really good day out.

ROLAND-PILAIN French car Company 1906 - 1931.
Produced some exciting interesting cars following WW1, EXPERIMENTING WITH VALVELESS ENGINES and four wheel brakes. Produced a 2 lt twin OHC straight eight GP car using desmodronic valves, four wheel hydralic brakes and ball bearing crankshafts, quite something for 1922! Road cars wore some very elegant bodies for up market vehicles, sadly going the way of so many car manufacturers of the 1920's.
