E type crash today

Coming home from Northumberland today travelling South on the A1 near Leeming Bar, saw blue lights on the North bound carriageway and what looked like a red E type
with front and rear damage ....only glanced across as we passed as i don't condone rubber necking, so no more details.

Sad to see though, hope no one was hurt.......Maybe there is something about Friday the 13th after all.

Definitely. My guess is that approx one 30th of all the accidents that occur this September will have occurred on the 13th.

I spent 9 hours behind the wheel yesterday (afternoon/evening) and saw a LOT of single-vehicle crashes; aquaplaning I guess, givem the weather. The Rangie certainly went very light on the controls a few times.

Seems the odds are better during May - there's only a 31st chance of an accident on any day during that month.

I hadn't realised the date... had a road closed due to a SVA round our way. It was being pulled out of a ditch.

Yes it was an E Type convertible. No one hurt single vehicle into crash barrier. On hire from the company I work for. Second E Type to be pranged in two weeks for us.

It was the date they were arrested, if my GCSE history was worth anything.

Good to hear no one was hurt, on exactly the same journey home last year we encountered a crashed Merc saloon which had demolished a good portion of the crash barrier, passengers had escaped with cuts and bruises, but sadly the driver was not so lucky, we had to crawl past the body in the wreckage as it was straddling two lanes, and it was not a pretty sight.......shook Mrs Alspeed up quite a bit.

Interesting info regarding the Knights Templar, i never realised they had such a chequered history.....thankfully I'm not the least bit superstitious :-)

On Friday 13th October 1307 the Templars were arrested by the French authorities on the orders of the Pope, accused of a range of heresies and criminal behaviour. The Order was dissolved and the Grand Master Jacques de Molay and others tortured to force them to confess and burned at the stake. The charges are now generally accepted to have been false. Their prestige and popular support had suffered following the loss of the Crusader kingdoms in the Middle East, which eliminated their original raison d'être, and the humiliating fall of the last Crusader port of Acre in 1291. Their properties were seized, conveniently, by the Crown, principally the French Crown, and those who managed to escape the purge of Friday 13th made their way to countries outside the influence of the Catholic Church, including Scotland (Robert de Bruce had been excommunicated) Switzerland and Portugal. A 'White Company' of Knights Templar are said to have fought for Bruce at Bannockburn in 1314, repaying his hospitality.
