Italy's National Auto Museum, Turin

Visited Italy's National Auto Museum in Turin last week and thought you might like to see this (although YouTube has blocked the video in certain countries - can you see it in yours?).

Note the red E-Type and the way the cars were displayed - pure theatre! Note also the way the red Italian racecars are displayed towards the end of the video - I loved it!

I can wholeheartedly recommend this museum and feel it has to be one of the best in Europe. It is somewhere you can take people who aren't petrolheads as they can learn about Italy's automotive culture.

Excellent place to visit, but I would add that the Alfa museum in Arese Milan is even more evocative.

...if it wasn't closed. Unless something has changed recently repeated attempts at entry since 2010 have failed with a polite brush off. A trip there would be bucket list material for me.

Trouble is that's it's problem, it's designed for coachloads of schoolkids with the "Millenium Dome/EPCOT" approach, you know "..inside the atom!" etc. Lots of nice cars, but the emphasis is on presentation rather than quantity, and lots of empty space I would prefer to see stuffed with the finest creations of Bertone/Pininfarina. Just hope it develops and doesn't become as stiflingly dull and trapped in 1979 like Beaulieu!

On a plus note the cafeteria ladies all looked like retired 40 year old Milan catwalk models when we were there!

Closed! Really, Have you tried calling them before hand or perhaps getting an Italian to speak with them, last time I visit was 18 months or so ago, found some UK photographers taking snaps..
