Serves the seller right. eBay used to pull these auctions if made aware - but they no longer bother.
Wonder if the original car is still on the road running on a new V5C - if the old logbook ever results in a clone it will be interesting to see what happens when two cars with the same ID turn up on the DVLA database . . .

Someone's having a laugh. Real cars are selling for £75,000! I have a collection of Jaguar brown log books and never paid more than £250 for the rarest of them. Prices have gone up since cloning (which of course I don't condone) or recreating a vehicle (as I have done and couldn't have done so using the IVA route) but I have never seen an identity sell over £5,000 before.
