Ecurie Ecosse collection should stay in Scotland

I have set up a facebook group to see if there is anyone else who feels strongly that Dick Skipworth's Ecurie Ecosse collection should be bought and kept together in Scotland and available to attend events all over the UK, the sums of money involved seem pretty trivial considering the significance of the team in Edinburgh, Scotland and the UK, would be horrible for them to end up in some private collection abroad

The commentator at Kop Hill today made a lot of comments about how sad it was that the Ecurie Ecosse collection is potentially to be broken up in December. Sad times.

Maybe Lord Laidlaw (now in funds from the R & M sale)could contribute his unsold ex Ecurie Ecosse D Type, buy the Skipworth collection and donate the lot to a new Scottish National motor museum, perhaps incorporating the Jim Clark museum in the Borders.

Probably only small change to him.

Thanks for the suggestions, a museum incorporating the Jim Clark room would be perfect, having it in the Borders would be a good second place to housing the collection in Edinburgh

The nice thing about historical fact is that individuals like you can have all these ludicrous thoughts but you can't change what happened. Nor can you discredit the achievements of this wonderful SCOTTISH racing team.
