Rear engined or front engined classic racer / Formula Junior

I am now obsessed with getting a Formula Junior or Formula Ford or similar historic single seater.

For those with experience of these things, what are the pros/cons of front/rear engined cars. Which Formula is 'better' for historic racing purposes?

It looks like a great thing to aim for for a hobby when I can afford it!

Historic F3 are very similar to FJ (In many cases, identical but for engine spec) but are generally cheaper, though for Historic racing, this is of course a relative term!

Duncan Rabagliatti's HFJRA (Historic Formula Junior racing association would be a good place to start looking, but I'd imagine £30k+ for a decent Junior.

Historic Formula Ford will probably start at £10 or 12 thousand for a decent car?

My project could be bought for a LOT less...... :0)

Historic FF. much cheaper, great, close racing, and beautiful cars. I think ten to twelve K for a car is a bit optimistic.

Just missed out on Revival invites, so won't be there this year, but expect to race next year in the Silverline series.

Need to get HTP papers sorted - will require some minor work. But should be all done by August.

Will have missed most of the season by then, so will probably just do a few test days and hill climbs to learn the car ready for next season.
