I was at the viewing day yesterday on Bond St. Bonhams had done a very good job of presenting the cars.

However the Porsche 904 GTS Carrera stole it for me, such a pretty car.

The spearmint over white Big Healey was, to my eyes at least, an absolute pig. The spearmint interior was one of the saddest things I've ever seen

The actual sale prices of the Ecurie ecosse collection totalled, including premiums, not far off £10 million. The prices were:-

Tojeiro Buick £382,300
D-type £2,577,500
Transporter £1,793,500
Austin Healey Sprite £61,980
C-type £2,913,500
XK120 £707,100
Cooper Monaco £219,900
Tojeiro EE-Buick £214,300

Some of the prices will make you gasp, no less the AH and the XK120, but it just shows how much people were prepared to pay for a slice of motoring history.

If you were to look at it a little cynically you might conclude that £60k for a car that is likely to be welcomed to the Revival and Le Mans Classic is a relatively cheap way in. Transporter and XK120 utterly insane.

Sad to see this unique collection being sold and in all probability broken up. There are one or two wealthy Scots that could have paid for them on the interest of their interest on their capital. Spotted JYS 2 steps behind HRH yesterday at Newbury racecourse at the Hennessy.

It is rumoured that the C, D, and the transporter were bought by one person, so the core of the collection will, if the rumour is true, stay together. I have an idea who it is if it is true, but we'll wait and see.
