What's the car in the background of this Jay Leno vid

Any idea what the silver car is in the background of the Jay leno video? It's the one parked next to the Fiat 500. There's a decent shot of it at about 4.30.

Looks like a Japanese car ? Looks like a bit like a Fiesta but with the mid enginged Renault 5 Turbo rear arches. Neither of which are Japanese though!

Looks like a Mazda 121 with added bits. I think I might need to get out more.

No that's wrong.... It's a Ford Fiesta with a Taunus SHO engine and nitrous!!

Toyota made the Starlet....

It's actually based on the American Fiesta, which was a badge engineered Mazda 121, not the normal European Fiesta.
