Classic Car Insurance Recommendations

I have a 1989 BMW 635csi and am looking for competitive classic car insurance. Are there any good recommendations fellow PHers can make? I'm currently with Footman James, insurance renewal is due the first week of February so have time to shop around rather than blindly renew.

I'm with Norton / Heritage and pay:

1981 Porsche 944 rally car - around £140 per year, 6000 miles, competition use, EU breakdown, 3 drivers, garaged.

1980 BMW E12 M535i - around £160 per year, 5000 miles, EU breakdown, 2 drivers, garaged.

I use A Plan for my 1968 Ford Cortina, great price and service, agreed value and all that jazz.

don't ever be lazy and just fill in the web quotes - talk to people - as you can ask about and possibly get offered more for same premium or even less, e.g. I asked how much extra it was for unlimited mileage and for my policy it was no extra premium, plus there are restrictions on web quotes that may not apply on their other products

Peter James was the co-founder of Footman James, they sold it to AON, it's now part of Towergate Underwriting Group Limited, I've no idea who owns them

I should be on commission as I know I've given them at least half a dozen new customers - but I'm not

let us know how you get on and if it's no good for a cars of your car's age I wont bother recommending in future

Thanks for all the replies guys, I went with A Plan in the end. Cheaper quote than my renewal from my previous insurer.

Just reinsured my Impreza with A Plan, they came out £200 cheaper than the next best and a staggering £800 than Flux!.

I will be using them when it comes to insuring the Lancer, if I ever get the bloody thing finished.

This could be my age, but Flux were half the price of everyone else who would look at me for my 205. Not great to deal with though...
