A different kind of "What car" thread

Hi,

I was thinking (OK, I was drinking at the time, and as a matter of fact, right now too..)that what excatly it is that I am looking for in a classic car?

I think that I am looking for a classic that has the feeling of the Suede´s Dog Man Star. The best idea that I´ve had so far is a pre-H.E. XJ-S..

Any ideas?

P.s. I posted this on the music section too, to get a second opinion..

ok, I'll have a go. So, we're looking for a car that conjures up a pompous, whiny, British image - hmm, that'll be a 4 cylinder CVH engined Morgan then. (IMHO)

Good one. The problem with slightly battered is that while I agree it fits the picture, it also might batter my wallet if the V12 has a fit..

Maserati Quattroporte III might have some of the same feeling, thou´not less sensetive engine?

This topic might seem silly, but I´ve always have a picked a record or records for my first drive in a new classic. This could be just a way to reverse the process?

With my BMW E30 convertible, the first drive had a combination of Transvision Vamp (I don´t want your money, etc.) and U2`s Zooropa, as reminder of the feeling of the times at 80/90´s when they were new.
