As many of the photos and associated stories featured in the "Classics left to die.." thread seem to be as old as the hills, I thought it might be a nice idea to recollect some of these older "finds".

My favourite was this one from 1986:

Who's got any other famous examples?

I have an address in my drawer here, and I know well the person who gave it to me. He swears that there is at this address in a barn the 1958 DB Panhard Le Mans race car. And it's been there for over 30 years it seems. But I've spent ages looking for the place, and shortly we are supposedly going there together to see if it is true. More anon.

Might have been mentioned on PH before, but Tom Cotter has written 2 books full of real 'barn find' stories: Cobra in the Barn and Hemi in the Barn. They are a great read smile

I like the one where the chap left his quite modest house to a family member, in the garage was a Bugatti that hadnt moved for decades and was worth Millions

Agreed, an amazing story.

Rumour has it that a number of classic dealers new of the car, but no one could pry it from the doctor before he passed away.

I've "found" a few cars over the years, but nothing more sporty than an E30 325 sport.

Latest finds are a pair of '60s S Types, but i'm undecided on whether to try and buy them or not.

Agree, got both - & he's a busy guy, there's a Vincent, a Harley & Corvette in the barn as well, now!
