Underwater Bugatti 22, what happened?

Just wondering if anybody knows of what happened to the Bugatti Type 22 that was "rescued" from a lake in Switzerland a couple of years ago?

I found the history of it's fate interesting and wondered what has become of it.

It was bought by peter Mullin and is in the Mullin Museum in Oxnard CA. An amazing museum. I will post a link and pics.

Whats more interesting is what happened to the type 22 in the Japanese collection which had the same chassis number...

It was suspected that a car with the same identity exists in a Japanese collection, however it appears that this may be the result of a typo in Bugatti Owners Club registers, where the Japanese car is recorded as 2461. The Lake Maggiore car is the real chassis 2461 & engine 879, but the Japanese car is chassis 2761 & engine 1168. Apparently the original Bugatti factory sales records confirm this.

I wonder if there are any cars on the Titanic?

You're right - 1912 Renault Town Car Type CB


This one is a similar car, altered (for use in the James Cameron film) to look like the one that's still in the Titanic.

But it's OK, the owner survived and later put in an insurance claim for the loss.
