fiat 126 alternate engine?

dad was looking for a project and has seen a fiat 126 for sale around the corner. He was amazed to find that it has only 24 bhp and fancied abit more poke.

any ideas what he can change it too?

The link below looks like a neat swap, but I own a Fiat 500 and a 126p engine that
will have the power increased in traditional manner to around 30-32 hp, so no
huge hike in power for me.

It's a Honda 1.4, with Opel Cadett gearbox.
Reason for this combination is the achievment of a fairly
stock look and simplicity because of the engine rotating (left ?) in a way that
doesn't require to change the direction of gears if I read it correctly.

You may google 126p KJS, which is a amateur rallye class for said cars in POland,

Is there any not to say vehicle, because I'm sure that's covered pretty well,
machine that hasn't been fitted with a small block V8?

There used to be a guy around Manchester, probably going on 30 years ago. Had an early 500 with suicide doors and an Alfa boxer in the back, cant remember if it was a 1.5 or 1.7.
To accommodate the extra room required into the rear cabin space, the new bulkhead had modified suitcases with bits of clothes hanging out, to the casual observer it looked like a back seat full of suitcases.
Painted black with skinny wheels it was very unassuming but took off like a raped ape
