E-Type series 1 Hire for music video.

Hello all. My name is Jason and I am a musician/ producer based in the Lincolnshire area.

I have been planning a music video for a while now, and having a clear, if a little stubborn, artistic vision I really want to get hold of a series 1 E-Type roadster for the shoot.

I've browsed a number of classic car hire websites and found various cars that meet my requirements for around about the £300-£350 mark for 24 hours. This is all well and good, but every company with a suitable car I have contacted, has invalid phone numbers, unresponsive e-mail addresses etc, so appear to have gone out of business.

In a nutshell, it must be:
-S1 Roadster
-Have Wire Wheels
-Not be bright red or White (in an ideal world, dark green dark blue or dark red)
-Available for self drive hire
-Have an excess deposit of less than £1000 (I'm not made of money, I'm just trying to look like I am for the video )
-Within the UK

I realise it's a bit of a tall order, but If anyone knows of anywhere or can find anything that might help me, or indeed if you own one yourself that you fancy seeing in a music video I would be very grateful.

You would be wise to come forward with an appropriate insurance proposal, with that in place someone will probably hire or maybe even loan you a car. The owner's insurance is very unlikely to cover what you are wishing to do, even if he was driving.

Hi Jason, forget an E Type and go for a TVR Griffith 500 instead. Just as pretty, the Griff shape is stunning, it's also far rarer as well, just 1,000 odd are believed to have survived worldwide out of only 1,900 built. They sound incredible as well, especially when de catted.

As much as I'm into them, the E Type has been used far too much in adverts etc and is just so familiar.

Maybe it is a prerequisite that the car passes the Kristin Scott-Thomas test, much as i love the Griff!

Thanks for your advice, many of the hire sites I have seen have marketed their cars for promotional videos and photoshoots as well as self drive hire, perhaps it's naive of me to think I can just go ahead and video the car without giving them too many details of what it is I'm doing? Not that I intend to break any laws or drive dangerously in it of course.

I would agree the Griff is a stunning car, though I do have a vision of something 60s with a bit of chrome on it. Feel free to make suggestions. Another car I am almost swayed by is the Mercedes 'Pogoda' my main point of focus is 'classy'

I would say talk to a company like the classic car club...

However they only have FHC, they do have one of these:

XK150, why didn't I think of that? I see they also have Pagodas coming out of their ears. Thanks for your help, I've shot them an e-mail just to see what they say.

Your ideal car.... A circa 1958 - 65 Alfa Jukietta / Julia Spider...... Achingly pretty, very stylish, very classy and more than enough chrome !

And not been done to death / over exposed as so many other classics have. I nearly bought my great friend the Late Tony Foleys ex Targa Florio Julia in the mid 80s, for 1,800 And I'm Still kicking myself.....
