Aston DBS - The Persuaders / Roger Moore

I was eagerly waiting for the Cornish Gold DBS that was used throughout the Persuaders TV series in 1971 to go under the hammer @ the weekend......

Well apparently It sold for over half a million !!

If it was a Cornish Gold DBS it was the wrong car. That was a special colour not unlike McLaren Orange.

Wasn't that the version that had the V8 detailing but the straight six engine which from memory was horribly dubbed in the TV series?

Nearly bought one of those in vantage spec of the four litre but in auto from Runnymedes in the mid 90s for £7500!!

It is a DBS chassis no: 5636R with a 6 cylinder engine (400/4665/S) and fitted with V8 type hubs and 15" GKN wheels and V8 badging, first registered on 15th May 1970 just as the actual V8 model was about to be announced.

Similar to the original James Bond DB5 in Goldfinger which was in fact a DB4 series V, as the DB5 was also just about to be announced.

I was told that by Nick Mee Aston specialist many years ago. It's kind of funny that so many people drive round in DB5s thinking they're Bond, James Bond when he was actually in a DB4. Bond, Brooke Bond.

Silly. Everyone wants the V8. The 6 is great, really great. The Bahama Yellow is stunning, it really is . . . but at this price just because Roger sat in it?

Beautiful, knowing it was going under the hammer made me go out to but a lottery ticket. Unfortunately I did not win , so I still do not own this car!
