Does anyone know a company who would be able to manufacture, from scratch, some simple door cappings without a template/original to work to?

It's a very simple design, akin to Mini ones. I.e a straight, rounded hardwood strip.

I need a burr walnut finish but have no issue with a good veneer if it means the wood underneath is more stable etc. the end finish I'm looking to be more satin than glossy.

I'm looking to replicate the front and rear cappings of the early 80's In Vogue limited edition Rangie as per this image:

Unless you are determined to stay with genuine wood veneer 3M Di Noc wrap can be used to achieve a good result for a fraction of the cost of veneer. I've used it in the past on a classic I had that was treasured but not very valuable.

It's good stuff. It's too shiny for what I want.

It's going to sound very poncy but I want the wood to be a close match to this:



It's a very simple shape to cut as it is essentially just a half inch plank with a rounded finish but I'm struggling to find a firm who can make from scratch without a template.

Have a look on youtube for wheeler dealers xjs. He restores a panel and uses a piece of laminate and a vacuum pump. Once you have the background moulding to your liking, you could do the same. The problem will be the moulding, not the veneer. Can the moulding be wood, too???

Thanks. What I'm looking for is a lead for an artisan who can create from scratch a set of burr walnut cappings to my finish requirements. The issue that I'm having using Google is that the firms that I've found only seem to either refurb or require the original.

Looks fairly straightforward for a decent joiner or a cabinet maker, even if you have to get it veneered elsewhere. Might want to lose the screwheads though.
