2014 Jensen Interceptor
Discussion
correct, it's an original Interceptor rebuilt from the ground up and yes the earlier S has been around for a while, but this is the first one to this spec with supercharger, revised dash, improved A/C, improved wipers, electric seats, heated electric mirrors, bonded windscreen etc etc.... and it truly is as quick as Chris says, it averaged 3.8 seconds 0 to 60 across 5 runs. Really, really good fun to drive.........
A bit out of my price range but I'd love a modified car at a lesser price.
The original engine can be rebuilt to give more than adequate performance and there are plenty of other mods that can be carried out, but it's still the fuel consumption that would be the killer for me
I wonder how difficult it would be to fit that six speed auto to the original engine ?

But it's £170,000.00! I think the interceptors are beautiful but i'm not sure i'd want one designed to do 0-60 in under 4 seconds, doesn't that just go against the 'grand tourer' ethos?
For that money, i'd have a very nice restored original Interceptor for circa £35k for whafting about in, and something like a new £135k Lambo Huracan for those times when you just have to get to 60 mph in under 4 seconds....

I'd keep the 135k aside for the fuel bills.Paul

This is actually the second Supercharged Interceptor R, the first one along with this were I think some of the first Interceptor S's. Why they reuse cars they've already transformed I don't know? Edited by Arcnewal on Tuesday 14th October 17:36
in truth this is the third car with a supercharger, one was an S retrofitted with an LS9 mated to the original 4 speed box, the second is an R with the LSA and 6 speed box as per the one in the video but the car reviewed in the video is the first to have all the ergonomic enhancements such as bespoke dash, single wiper, electric seats etc etc as per my earlier posting. Yes it's a pretty penny but as Chris says in the video you have this "as well as " rather than "instead of".... I've been tooling around in the car today and I can assure you all it is a total hoot... gentle GT when you want it to be and insane projectile if required!

Ok, £138 k but close enough.

That car was on their stand at the Goodwood Revival, the brown is a BMW colour - I asked.Very, very nice car, although I'm not too sold on the 'modernised' dash. Otherwise, I'd take over a comparitively priced modern 'supercar' any day of the week.

You'll need one of these, http://www.wilcap.com/mopar.html#426350 and a bit of cut n shutting of the tranny tunnel most likely, plus quite a bit of general fiddling....??The Surveyor said:

Super - classic looks with a modern running gear (and interior).

I don't really think you can compare the two together. The Viperceptor was built merely as a one off, and really just to see what it would look like and whether it could be done or not. aeropilot said:

6L80E/6L90E are fully electronic, so bolting it in is the simple bit - you need standalone management. Easier when you have the "paired" engine with all its associated bits, as per that Interceptor.Although I'm planning something similar, the article is a bit unfair to the original Chrysler engines - not all slow and certainly not unreliable.

I'm guessing the American market produces something that takes care of that.
