Hi all, I'm looking for info on these early UK Fords.

I've found less than I thought I would. How popular are they? Is there a following in the UK and Europe?

Thx.

Lovely 1937 Ford Ten 7W.

I only know the big US cars. These four pot runners look like tons of fun.

We found a mashed up hubcap for one of these when building our extension, PH identified it for us.

Now we fancy the idea of something similar to go with the old house, not yet though. Got to buy stuff like windows first I told.

They are fun, though having said that mine is slightly not original.

Different to drive! Three speeds, change up from screaming in second (at about 40 mph)into top & it almost stops! Vacuum wipers of course, so with the engine under load, they do NOTHING! Brakes are "interesting" & the handling...well cornering at any great(relative)speed is for the brave! Transverse springs are different!
The centre panel of the roof was pressed out & replaced with fabric & the removed metal used to make other pressed parts! Real cheap new car motoring in it's day. Everyone should have one once, if only to remind yourself how good almost anything else is!
Incidentally the German Ford Taunus (10M I think it was called) was a rounded off "streamlined" equivalent (although not many parts were interchangeable)& was heavier & really "top heavy", I frightened myself throughout a 500 mile journey over a weekend driving to Belgium & back from Germany in about 1960.

If you take it easy and pick B-roads you should be fine. Very relaxing drive, room for 4 and comfy.

Nothing fancy; a 1690cc pre-crossflow built around a Twin-Cam block backed by a 2000E 4-speed box, 105E back axle (front end is Viva HA). Been like that essentially since 1972, though it started with a 1500 non-GT lump.

They do have that 'I wanna be a hot rod'-look, don't they? Hardly any original Ford Ten left. Especially a 7W like on the picture.
