I have a 1958 IWL scooter with no docs as it's never been registered in the UK. Bought with the intention of putting a silly Jap engine in it and I'm about to start on it.
It's going to take a couple of years so no panic with registering but the a question is the NOVA system doesn't seem to cater for the 'project' that you may have had for years?
I've built a couple of bikes so know the old process but there must plenty of unregistered cars and bikes that are 'pre NOVA' so what happens if you try to register them?
Proving that VAT was paid in the EU is obviously not possible.

No idea. But IWL Scotter is an unusual thing hereabouts.

Send HMRC an email, the NCH car team have just been very helpful with a imported car/NOVA problem I have had and although it took a long time to sort once I got a case handler It went very well indeed.

In my case the car had been here a while and not needed a NOVA when it was brought here, it then languished and when I tried to register with DVLA they said it needed NOVA.

I now have it !
