War time Bedford Truck plate CHS180
Discussion
Hi chaps,
Just wondering if anyone knows if the following war time Bedford truck still exists.. I only ask as it was converted to a race car transporter … The Bedford was first registered in April 1943 to a James Smith… then went through several owners until Rob Beck or Egal fame bought the truck in Aug 1964, He then had it converted to move his E Type.
Bedford
Number plate CHS180
Chassis OWB13019
I bought Rob’s XJS from his widow and last night looking through the papers found the Bedford’s old tax records… any pixs or info on either the Egal or Bedford would be much appricated..

The chassis reference OWB would make it a long-nosed OB bus (not a truck) built to wartime austerity specifications, so the body in the picture could be the modified original, rather than a post-war replacement....
That's makes more sense.....and a quick google of OWB in utility spec shows that it's does indeed look like they've just modified the original body.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
