First post and I couldn't see an introduction section so apologies if I have transgressed any rules on that front.

I'm looking to buy a second car as a bit of an occasional run around aside from the family chariot.

I'd like a classic, hopefully the MK1 Civic qualifies.

I am normally a motorbike man, but I have owned Honda cars for the last 27 years, interspersed with a Cortina, Renault 18, and Triumph Acclaim; probably others but thats what I can remember.

Of the Civics I have owned three, 2 MK2s and and a Mk4 I always had a soft spot for them, perhaps because they took me everywhere in my (old) young free and single days of cheap self-service/repair motoring. The Mk1 though I have always particularly liked the look of, and what I am chasing now.

From looking around the internet they do seem rather rare perhaps the rust they always suffered from claiming them; they did my Mk2s thought the 4 lasted better.

Reasonable condition, roadworthy or very near to, and preferably manual are the main criteria.

So if anybody has knows of/owns/seen something languishing in the back of a garage would you mind dropping me as line? Distance not an object I can always arrange transport.

I have seen the two on carandclassic but I am hoping for something in better condition.

Many thanks for getting this far in the rambling, and appreciate any help.

Bill

I would think MK 1 Civics must be pretty rare nowadays most of them were reduced to powdered rust by about 5 years old, must be at least 25 years since I saw one last.

A MK1 1500 circa 76 would be the one to find a little flying machine

Yup, all the best. Don't dismiss the Hondamatic if you come across one - better than you might think.

Still looking, found a very nice chap who is a bit of an authority on them, and lives less than 5 miles from me, what are the chances?

He owns 5 though understandably not really willing to part with them. Still he has kindly offered to keep his eyes and ears open.
