Hi,

I'm starting to rebuild my mk1 golf gti after a 2 year resto and i'm starting to agonise over some really stupid details...perhaps you can help!

The job had kind of snowballed, for example i wasnt going to take the engine out as i'd painted it all when i rebuilt the engine 10 years ago...but then i thought i'd got that far. Plus it ment i could roll the shell onto its side.

So now it's body colour (Mars red) stone chip underneath and fresh paint in the engine bay.

So brake pipes, what i'd intended to do was to voer them with electric cable heat shrink and have them a nice black rubber finish. However will this cause them to sweat? the pipes are kunifer? Or do i paint them with por15?

I know this is stupid but its just where i am with it, i've gone past the point of it being sensible.

I'm looking to keep the car long term and really just want it to last. Plus i think the black pipes will look good against the paint.

your thoughts please

If the pipes are kunifer, you don't need to do anything to them. Polish them if you really want.
