Best place to sell a good old beetle?

My Dad's been talking of selling his 1960 (I think) VW beetle. The body is completely rust free, always has been and he's the second owner since new, so Personally I think it's too good to put up for sale locally and have some tyre kicker come around for a moan. I was wondering what forums/magazines might be the best bet for getting a wider audience (and hopefully more money) from enthusiasts?

Would an advert in VolksWorld be worth it? Any massive brand forums I'm completely unaware of? Any advice on selling classics online? Generally I'm thinking the market must be more widely dispersed and smaller than for a MKV Golf

I sold a fairly ordinary 1972 beetle a couple of years ago via an ebay auction. No reserve, ended up with 800+ watchers and a last minute bidding frenzy getting 3 times what I thought it was worth.

If its genuinely rust free and original, it will go, they are very collectible.

for something that vintage + good condition, I would never put it on Ebay.
Settle on a price & put it in Volksworld is my advice.

Try pre67vw.com, or volkszone. There are lots of vw sites related to buses, but you can sell on there and if people like buses they usually like beetles! The samba is another good site but it's mainly for the U.S. I bought my '67 off of eBay.

Hold on to it until spring/early summer next year, fresh mot and a service, then an ebay ad with good description and plenty of photo's.

Beetles always go for meantal money around April to June when hippy-kid wannabees persuade daddy that they did really well in their exams so deserve a reward.

Never had much success of Volkszone; lots of chat but no-one seems to sell cars. Parts and accessories yes, but cars no. Of course, others may have a different experience. The Samba is American orientated but if it is a good car, UK and European buyers are always looking. Depends, you may also get interest from Resto Cal or the Cal Look forum if sold as a really solid car ideal for transforming into the look respective to that particular scene.

I'm an ex multi beetle/camper owner.

try volksworld, even try the justkampers forum.

a rust free 60's beetle is a rare thing indeed and potentially worth a lot of money. These days finding one that hasn't been customised too at some point is a miracle.

also google for local clubs to your area, even look for facebook groups.

local clubs and some bearded expert would be good to tell you what its worth.

A rust free Beetle sounds almost unbelievable - put it on eBay = biggest audience, vw campers sell well via eBay.
Classified add with a very high price and put open to offers after viewing/ inspection has taken place.

i'm reading many copies of Volks World right now via my trial of Readly. every copy has a cover picture of a slammed Beetle! i get it that this is a 'thing', but is it the only trick in town? i guess for those buying magazines maybe...

OP, i suggest Ebay with a long time frame and only close any deal via normal means, cash in person. Serious buyers will be in touch anyway so you'll a few to talk to properly is first deal doesn't actually complete.
