Recommended maintenance toolkit for a 944 S2

Afternoon all.

I am about to become the proud owner of an '89 944 S2. I plan to do the basic maintenance myself (or at least try to) and need some recommendations for the right tools to buy.

Anyone other 944 owners able to advise? Or should I abandon all hope and form a very close relationship with my local indie?

They are pretty basic when compared to modern stuff, so a Halfords professional kit would do most diy jobs.

This+1. For standard maintenance their's nothing too onerous with a 944. Halfords Pro tool kit are superb value for money and if you keep an eye out you can find them 1/2 price in the Halfords sales. Opt for the larger 200 pice kit here...

Congrats on an excellent choice of car ... the most important thing to have to hand is a spare DME relay. All the tools in a Snap-on van won't help if (when) yours fails.

That's the one + torque wrenches are most important, buy a good quality mid-range unit. The most frequent torquing up you'll be doing is the wheel nuts. Plus, if you don't have a good set of combination spanners Halfords do this kit for, what is, very good value for money. I have a set hanging on the garage wall...they're excellent for day-to-day spannering.
