Attended yesterday, along with a lot of other people....BIG money for 80s classics, nice mk 2 XR2 with 82K miles did 7600, a 1987 Cavalier Sri with 50K miles and 1 owner did £7300, 2001 Mini John Cooper works s with 19K miles did £11k, a 1 owner BMW e30 320 with 59K did £5200, 2002 Turbo £40K, 81 Capri 3.0S £18K

Big demand and big money IMO

Can't believe a Cavalier would be worth that! When I looked at the list I had a strange desire to buy this - http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auct... - don't know anything about them but saw one in France in the summer and was intrigued.

I was hoping to go up there for a bit of a look around but had to do other things. Cars here do seem to get strong money.

I didn't go to this one but have been previously several times. There is a strong smell of barely-dried paint about many of the cars with the occasional gem.

MK1 GTI seems a decent price if its as dry and rust free as it looks.
Decent ones with more mileage are going for £8-9k

Alfasud is lovely as is the white Mini Cooper.

Can't believe the Cavalier made 5x the Royale!

The auction up in Scotland (perth) cars are 10 times worse

I try to get to most Auctions if I'm not working.
Anglia seem to have a better than average selection with the advantage of drive bys and low commission.
It's a good day out with a reasonable hotel almost next door to park the trailer in if you overnight.
Regards prices, that's led entirely by the buyers but I have to agree.....mad prices right now.

Bought my Maserati from them


The breakfasts at SWVA are better though.

The Renault Gta v6 turbo looked good value at 3k so not all the 80s stuff made the money.


Just why would someone pay £1200 plus fees for a Volvo 240 saloon?

Serious thought: if things sold at their price, they cannot be over priced, surely? It doesnt mean henceforth all similar cars are worth that amount, of course

Very straightforward to repainted, re trim seats cam belt and full service possible welding, easy winter project.

What was your opinion of the mk2 golf GTI 16v?

For me the auctioneer did a very good job and as said everything was strong.

That xr2 though was genuinely superb and is worth that figure to someone that wants one.

The RS was very high miles

Liked the black SAAB 99 Turbo - didn't go for much more than was being asked pre-respray

There was a BMW 635 listed but then withdrawn (not the green one that went through) - I'd like to have seen what that made (it has gone through another auction/s recently)

I know a guy ( well known the the LT scene) who's selling a Serbia Black rolling shell and asking a fair wedge for it. But you're right, even within the MLR they're fetching serious cash when they do come up for sale.
I've had mine 15 years, along with another one which sits rotting to bits on a farm which I've had for 24 years and have been using as a donor car. I'll have to keep the increase in prices quiet from the wife, if she finds out she'll get all kinds of silly ideas concerning shoes, handbags and other associated presents
