The one on the right is a Raleigh Safety Seven. Built in Nottingham.

On the next row, I see a silver Golf, what looks like the front of a Citroen DS, and then perhaps a LR Discovery or Freelander. Rest are too small.

There was a site in Beddington Lane, Croydon that must have collected all of those disabled cars. Must have been 100+.

Possibly breaking them or using them as some sort of team building track day.

I remember decades ago these things were considered dangerous so they asked Grahame Hill to test drive one , he duly did all togged out in full racing kit , drove it around a car park , got out clearly shaken and declared it a a death trap !

I missed the point about them being made illegal to use on the road. How do things like the Peel 50 maintain legality? Presumably they slip under the radar as they weren't government sponsored.

In the 60's we had a family living next door whose eldest son had a couple of Bonds. The old memory is a bit sketchy these days but I'm fairly sure the engine was attached to the single front wheel, which it drove, and steered with it. Also to start the thing, you had to open the bonnet, put your foot in and kickstart it!

(I was only 8 at the time so he may have been winding me up of course.)

Think you are about right, definitely in terms of the engine/steering and pretty sure they have a kick starter but maybe electric too?
