I'm biased as I use mine as a virtual daily driver, but can't recommend these great little sports cars highly enough. Fast enough without feeling that it'll kill you, decent enough on fuel (30 plus mpg), reliable (yes they are!) great fun to drive and the roof comes off.
Oh yeah, they sound epic.

With that budget I would strongly suggest looking to a Scimitar although you would need a Webasto for the windy hair thing, or a small sports model which are even more greatly underrated.
