M Reg C200 Sport - a future classic?

I've been offered one of these for almost no money but it was one-owner from new with all the original paperwork.
There's no MOT and it's a bit tatty with a rotten front wingand drivers side sill, with bubbling nearside rear arch and door bottoms.
The rear bumper is slightly cracked on the drivers side corner and it has a scuff on the other corner.
The black leather interior looks pretty good (haven't been inside the car yet) and it has the carbon dash.
I'm told that, being a manual, it is rare. Is an old C-Class of this vintage viable as a daily, are the parts expensive and any money-pit issues?
I don't know much/anything about these cars, but do like my current Mercs (a C200 Auto Sport and a C220CDI GLA).

Therein lies your biggest problem - the bodywork. New wing, door bottoms sorted, rear arch. None of that is cheap. Also, from memory 1994 was one of the years that there were paintwork issues with "spidering" of paint. I'd a 1994 c36 a number of years ago and there wasnt a panel on it that didnt have a paintwork blemish.
To do it "right" you could maybe need to spend £1000-£2000 to get something thats mint and with a bit of a wow factor.
Probably a nice enough car to do it with, and i'd say you've a good chance of getting your money back if you can get it to a nice state.
Much as I like these, they won't be a classic in the desirable and increasing in value kind of way.
They are increasingly rare, and in my opinion a good cohesive and elegant little saloon, but you could spend lots sorting the bodywork.
The manual is rare, but a bit clunky and it probably suits the wafty nature of the car better. If it's got a decent leather interior, it will be worth more in bits than as a complete car.

Amazingly quick car, very understated as you can see. Quite affordable to run too - most of the parts were taken by AMG from other models. I remember going to get brake discs for it and they were the disks and pads off the S500 model at the time.

Oh well just have to make do with this
Had an M-plate C280 "Sport" back in 1998 - most disappointing car I have ever owned.
A C200 is never going to be sought-after - so don't please don't have one based on future expectations!
I had a 1989 190e before my C280 - so much better built! All it needed was a bit more grunt - 190e 2.6 would have sorted that! Or the 2.3 16V Cosworth 190e my mate had (before he had a C220 Sport that put him off Mercs for life)!
If any W202 C-class ever is/becomes desirable it will be a high-spec. C280/C36/Brabus.
A C200 is never going to be sought-after - so don't please don't have one based on future expectations!
