Sad news, that Stanley Mann, another character of the classic car world has passed away, following a fall at his work shop on Feb 4th.

I worked for Serck Marston and we did all the Bentley Rads for him. as a younger man with little real knowledge, both Stanley and Vaughn Davis, also sadly passed now, took the time to explain everything they could about the cars.
I have no doubt some would say bad things about him, but he was a larger than life character that was a pleasure to deal with and to be with.

I had no money yet he and Vaughn went out of there way to make me feel like I belonged extending invitations to very exclusive days, with the likes on prince Michael of Kent with no gain for them.

His like will not come along that often.

Nice post. Always good to get some insight about people from those who have actually dealt with them.

This superb photo was taken by my pal Bruce Flemming and was given to me by my dear Late friend Tony Foley ( Tomorrow's world live ammo / Bullit proof vest fame ) but who is sitting on that blower Bentley ?

This car isn't a "Blower Bentley". The item poking through the bottom of the radiator is a dynamo, not a super charger. This being a standard arrangement on 6 cylinder W O Bentleys; the fact that the carbs are on the near side of the engine would identify the car as a 61/2 litre as opposed to an 8 litre.
Who the gent sitting on the chassis is, sorry, I haven't a clue.

He lived just down the road from me and it is a sad event. A real character and his cars were often seen on roads in Radlett, Herts, Letchmore Heath and elsewhere near Elstree. A real shame.

VSCC Silverstone last Saturday included the inaugural Stanley Mann Cup for the first Bentley home in the race for Vintage Racing Cars (VSCC Set 1).
But it wasn't the same without Stanley there.
