Does any recognise this dashboard please???

Going through a box of bits of my late father we came across this dashboard - we don't recognise it but wonder if one of you folks might?

The number of holes for instruments and switches maybe implies it wouldn't have been for a cheap car?? It is veneer directly over metal which to me implies not top of the market either.
