Trying to mis-direct the wife as to ones project costs is always a challenge. Especially when you have several on the go at the same time with no real completion date in sight.

I always justify it by saying things like 'well, if I buy this one I can use some parts off it and sell the rest on Ebay/Gumtree/Club forum (delete as necessary). The parts alone are worth more than I'm paying for the whole car...'.

Completed a few projects over the years, the problem with the budget is as general prices have risen then even basic parts have doubled, quadrupled in price hence leaving you over budget.... Do it right and you rarely get back what you put in but that's part of the game....

That feeling of achievement isn't it, when it goes right. I've owned my current Quattro for six years and only in the last week managed to chase down the last glitch of the many which have prevented it from previously running properly in all that time.

It's cost too much money though

The question would have to be whether seeing the shrink would cost even more than another "project"

The jury is out after the visit. So much to do to put right what has been badly done, but it is doable and would be on the road in a year at most since bodywork and painting apart it is an assembly and trim job. Even has the original mag-alloy wheels with it. Might surprise you to know it's a Jaguar!

An old boy I used to work for years ago said all cars should be made with a slot in the roof to put the money in !!!!

I am bleeding money on car projects and haemorrhaging on a wooden boat. Why? why can't I just buy a nice Jap car like normal people.
